Halo of the East is an outdoor lighting fixture designed for Nepal resort. We aim to design a luminaire product that stands out with a unique and innovative approach, moving away from the typical cylindrical bollard lamp.Drawing inspiration from Nepalese Buddhism, our design merges traditional and modern elements. We have created a round shape with a hollow cut-out in the middle, reflecting the concept of "Sunyata,"which means emptiness. This design not only captures attention but also conveys deeper meaning.
We tried to design the Golden Bowl with modern craftsmanship, color matching and materials. The lamp adopts a double-sided opening design, considering higher light utilization rate to respond to environmental protection needs. The Golden Bowl in Buddhism conveys the concept of returning to the origin.Based on this characteristic,we further extracted the circular ring from the Golden Bowl as the core element and further designed it in the appearance. In the internal structure, consider having the lamp and LED strip's lighting strip penetrate through the interior in a spiral structure, better combining the lamp and LED strip.

Buddhism is overwhelmingly dominant in Nepalcompared to other religions and is
the faith of the vast majority of Nepalis .This means that designs related to
Buddhism can effectively meet the emotional andcultural needs of local users.
Nepal is a subtropical monsoon climate, with humid and rainy
summers.Extreme precipitation places high demands on the waterproofing properties of theproduct.
Nepal has a large amount of unused recyclable materials, generating more than 3,000 tons of recyclable materials annually, but
the actual recycling rate is less than 5%.

In this project, we successfully developed an innovative outdoor lighting design that cleverly integrates cultural significance, sustainability and functionality through integrated LED strips and simple circular appearance. In this project, the client praised our solution, believing that we broke the design boundaries of traditional column lights, and it also made me understand that the client's deep needs are often not expressed through his interviews.
